Every garment is built entirely around you.
We begin with up to twenty-eight precise measurements, transformed into a unique paper pattern drafted exclusively for you. Up to eighty hours of handwork by IK Collection’s most skilled cutters and tailors go into shaping every single garment. From drafting and hand-stitching to the final finishing touches, each piece is built entirely around you.
No two bodies are the same — and neither are any two IK Collection garments. Every commission includes a minimum of three fittings. Every detail is considered, personalised, and uniquely yours. With proper care, an IK Collection garment is made to be worn, cherished, and enjoyed for a lifetime. This is what sets authentic bespoke tailoring apart.

OUR BESPOKE PROCESS
For over 60 years, IK Collection has been making beautiful, hand-made clothes. Every piece is made to fit only you — your style, your shape, your personality. Our team of expert tailors have been with us since the very start, all working together in the same building we’ve used since 1960.
From your first visit to your last fitting, we work together to make something you’ll love. Whatever you need, our experienced team is here to help.
YOUR CONSULTATION
We start with a chat — at our workshop in Bradford, or we can come to you by appointment. We’ll find out what you like, and exactly what you want. Then you’ll pick your fabric — from soft wools and silks to rich velvets and more. We’ll talk about the style, the cut, and every little detail you want.
TAKING YOUR MEASUREMENTS
Next, our master cutter measures you carefully — over 28 different measurements! We also look at how you stand, sit, and move — so your clothes fit perfectly and feel comfortable, not just look good.
MAKING YOUR PATTERN
We draw your pattern completely by hand, just for you. It’s your unique blueprint — no one else has it. We keep it safe and can adjust it whenever you need. We’ll keep it for life, so every new piece fits you perfectly.
CUTTING YOUR FABRIC & CANVAS CONSTRUCTION
We lay your chosen fabric out and mark every line by hand. We make sure all patterns, stripes, and designs line up perfectly. Then we cut it all by hand with shears — just like we’ve done for 60 years. At this stage, we also cut and shape our interlining — a premium layer of natural horsehair canvas that sits between the outer fabric and lining. This traditional technique gives the jacket its structure, shape, and drape, moulding to your body over time for a truly personal fit that lasts for decades. This is where your garment truly begins.
Fitting & finishing
From skeleton base to finished garment.

FIRST FITTING – SKELETON BASE
Don’t worry — your first fitting won’t look like a finished suit! It’s put together loosely so we can see how it sits on you. The horsehair canvas is basted in place at this early stage, letting us shape and mould it to your frame before final stitching. We mark all the changes we need to make so it fits exactly right.
SECOND FITTING
After the first fitting, we take it all apart and remake it from scratch with all the changes. Now it starts to look like the finished piece — with pockets, sleeves, and lapels. The horsehair canvas is now fully secured, forming a permanent, soft structure that holds its shape beautifully. We may do one more fitting if needed — we keep going until it’s perfect.
HAND FINISHING
Every detail is done by hand. We shape it, press it, sew buttonholes and lapels — the natural horsehair canvas is carefully pressed and moulded to lock in the perfect silhouette. Every stitch is done with care. It takes many hours of hand work to make every garment special.
YOUR FINISHED GARMENT
At your final fitting, you try on your completed garment — made just for you. The horsehair canvas has settled and formed to your shape, giving you a fit and feel that only improves the more you wear it. We check everything before you take it away. We keep your pattern safe so it’s easy to make more in the future. Owning an IK Collection garment means you’re wearing something made with care, tradition, and skill.
